In the beginning, any dog characters tended to be random NPCs played as your average stray cur, or someone's pet. Around 2003, members were allowed to join dogs as actually characters, which inevitably led to many hybrids being born later down the line. Today, Sparkling Creek Valley has seen almost 800 dogs either joined or born in the Valley, not counting any who have wolf or other wild canine blood mixed into their genes.
